What you are about to read is a short introduction I’ve been working on for a currently untitled book. It’s a novel that explores the current gambling crisis, influencer culture, and learning how to truly come to terms when we don’t get the ending we want. The characters written here are, in my opinion, the most odious, most horrendous, most insufferable individuals I’ve ever had the misfortune of writing about. Please understand that nothing here reflects my own personal views. With that out of the way, let’s take a listen into the latest episode of The Jim Montana Show, featuring Jaxton Blake.
Jim Montana: Good morning, everyone out here in God’s country. That is, of course, our country. Today in studio…ladies and gentlemen, we have a treat for all of you, whether you’re listening while you work or watching while you play. He has quickly become one of my favorite guests to have on the show and he is not even 30. He has over 500 million followers on YouTube. He has over a billion combined followers across Instagram, TikTok, X, and Facebook.
He is the Internet Boxing Champion of the world.
He is Jaxton Blake!
Jaxton Blake: Oh my God, that’s one hell of an entrance, brother!
JM: You know, I wrote all of that down on the drive in here?
JB: Yeah?
JM: I think I undersold it!
JB: *laughter* No, man, you did a damn good job there. You’re the king of this shit.
JM: Oh no, I think that’s you, young man.
JB: Jimmy, you ain’t all that old. Hey, lets you and me get into the boxing ring. I can get the crew to set it up right now.
JM: *laughter* Oh, I can get right on that as soon as the popping in every single one of my joints stops.
JB: Oh word? You know, they got stuff for that now. I’ve been talking with some of these people and it’s just wild.
JM: What kind of people?
JB: My crew…my crew got these connections. When you’re doing as much as I am, you gotta stay on top of shit.
JM: I bet, I bet.
JB: Like, it’s not P.E.D.s or any of that shit.
JM: Right.
JB: They keep trying to hit me with that. I’m all natural though, baby. Ha ha!
JM: Well, I wanted to ask you about that, because I hear these people online…
JB: Chirpers.
JM: Yeah. They keep talking about how they have all this evidence of you taking these performance drugs.
JB: Yeah.
JM: And every single time you say, “Well, then, show it.”
JB: Yes.
JM: They never are able to actually produce anything outside of some of these old photos of you.
JB: Yeah, you see, I’m not out here trying to hear all their mess, you know? They just don’t like me because *cough* *cough* *cough*
JM: Oh yes, I know exactly what you’re saying.
JB: You know, people are always going to hate. But these people out here hate me because I’m a successful, white, male. And I’ve made the business of boxing more money than it’s made in the past 20 years.
JM: At least!
JB: Right! And so, they all want to try and cancel me. Pull up these old videos of me and my brother doing our videos when we were just these stupid kids. We were out here trying to make a name for ourselves; you know what I’m saying?
JM: Exactly.
JB: And then, like, young people, they just connected with us for all these different ways. And, you know, my brother, he’s out still holding the game down.
JM: I saw he’s got his rap album coming out.
JB: Yeah. That first single hit number one on the iTunes sales charts. And now, I’m out here, making boxing relevant again, and they just don’t like that it’s guys like us who are doing it.
JM: Absolutely.
JB: And, you know, I got love for all these people who came before us. No disrespect to them at all. They were out there boxing with…fucking…. like…rope they had for horses and shit.
JM: I know, I know.
JB: And, like, when you’re that underprivileged, you know, you take what you can get. But, like, me and my brother, we came from the bottom. Our parents weren’t like these super rich, elitist people out here, trying to buy their kids ways into the culture.
JM: Oh, watch it now. You call it that and people will try to cancel you.
JB: I mean, but that’s what it is, you know. It’s the real culture that, like, the real people in the world really know about.
JM: Yeah.
JB: And, like, all these chirpers online, they try and be like, “Oh, he’s white. Oh, he’s blond. Oh, he’s got all this money.” But it’s like, how do you think I got that money?
JM: Right.
JB: Like, no, but actually Jimbo, how do you think I got that money?
JM: Uhh, let me see here. Were you on welfare?
JB: *laughter* No.
JM: Oh, okay. Did you get into college because the white man is evil?
JB: *laughter* Dude, you’re killing me.
JM: Well, but these are the ways that young people are told to get ahead in life nowadays. Oh, go out on the streets and sling drugs or whatever, and then get your hoes or whatever to get you money. And we’re supposed to just idolize this from these people?
JB: No, but you’re so fucking for real for that. Like, me and my brother, we just worked really, really hard. That was it. No big secret. No dumbass book telling people how to work the system or whatever. We just worked our asses off.
JM: Well, that’s the absolute truth.
JB: And, like, we surrounded ourselves with people who had all these different opinions and thoughts. Like, we welcome almost anybody into our circle. But it’s gotta come down to, like, number one, loving hard work. And number two, you gotta be willing to take every chance you can get, bro.
JM: I mean, that’s the thing I can never get enough of whenever you come around here.
JB: Hmm?
JM: Because, you always bring in your video crew, and your location crew, and it’s like…that thing these people online like to bitch about? They’re nowhere near as diverse as the crew you have.
JB: Exactly bro. You get it. Cause, like, you know, I’m not like them. I have black friends, I just don’t like to trot them out to do their whole song and dance, ya know?
JM: Right. Like how they like to do the whole “Mammy” routine with everybody they can.
JB: Right. Like, can your camera get a shot of Dwayne over there?
JM: I don’t think we can.
JB: Oh, well, anyways, that guy is like one of my best bros in the world. And I’m not our here trying to be like, “Oh, look at him, he’s black. I’m special because I know a black person.”
JM: Yes. Yes, yes, yes.
JB: Cause for us, it’s all about hard work. You put in that hard work; you will be successful in life.
JM: No matter what you’re doing.
JB: Yes. Cause, like, no, you might not be making a billion dollars or whatever.
JM: Well, maybe.
JB: But you might be, like the best janitor in the world. And you can be proud of that.
JM: It’s hard work for the sake of hard work.
JB: You know it. And that’s what it’s about for me. I could just quit this stuff, but I’m just wired to keep working and doing more and more.
JM: Well, you’re not just an online personality.
JB: No, sir!
JM: You are…let me get the list here. An entrepreneur with your production business.
JB: Yes.
JM: Well, it’s not just that, even. Because you have this new video service called Fight Bet.
JB: Oh, you know. *laughter* I mean, we can talk business if you want.
JM: I absolutely do. Because this has got to be one of the biggest things on the internet right now. Just give us the pitch for it.
JB: Okay, well, first, it’s the website Fight Dot Bet.
JM: *laughter* My mistake.
JB: I’ll let it slide. *laughter* Just this once though.
JM: *laughter*
JB: So, Fight Dot Bet is a website where you can stream fights in real time. And we have all of these different algorithms and AI’s working behind the scenes to get you information about the fight in real time.
JM: Which, I got to say, I watched your most recent fight. Congrats, by the way. Still, undefeated. 26 and 0.
JB: Yeah, baby!
JM: And I was watching it, and it was giving me info like your body temperature, and how that compares to your other fights.
JB: Yeah. So, it basically feeds back all of this information back to people on the website. And it’s, like, so many crazy ass stats, it’s wild. Like, temp is one of the more normal ones we have.
JM: Oh really?
JB: Yeah. We basically track every single thing that a fighter, who’s working through us, can. So, how quickly did they visibly start sweating. We have these high-quality microphones, so we can pick up who’s breathing the loudest. It’s just the wildest shit.
JM: That’s incredible.
JB: And then, we take all that info and we feed it out to the people on the site. And then, we take all that info and we make real-time bets available to people right there, in the moment.
JM: Wow.
JB: You put your card info in, and then you can be like, “Oh, there’s a bet on who’s going to land the first clean hit. Let me get in on that. And there’s another one about who’s going to have the loudest breathing by the end of the match.”
JM: That’s so incredible.
JB: And so, we have, like, all the normal bets that you can place and everything like normal. You know, who’s going to win, what round is somebody going down in, will it go to decision. And we can cater to those people, but…
JM: You can cater to the people who really want to do something different.
JB: Exactly. It’s all about breaking things apart for us, you know? We’re always thinking fifteen steps ahead of people like that.
JM: I’m just in such awe of how you came into that whole idea.
JB: Well, and it’s not even just that, you know? So, fights are only this small part of our plan with the market. And we built these tools so they can be adapted in a lot of different ways. So, you know, we might not have a whole team over there, but we were streaming all this footage of Ukraine and Russia. And we were able to start a whole market on that, too.
JM: That’s just incredible. Really, just looking at the market and saying, “What do people want right now?”
JB: Yes. And we aren’t even the only people who put these bets up. So, you have our verified bets that come through us or from us, out to the public. And then you have a whole other set of them that people can just make on their own. They put up the initial funds, and they can say to their friends, “Hey, I bet I’ll be able to get with this chick tonight.” And then, you and all your friends can bet on it and make these variations on it. *laughter*
JM: *laughter* Well, I imagine most people won’t be using it for that.
JB: Yeah, but you know, the point is it’s all variable, right? We have tools that are adaptable for literally anything you can imagine. And, like, yes because we have this whole integration with our online fights, we can give a more, uh, robust, experience to people. But we really want to start bringing those tools to the rest of the bets.
JM: Like what?
JB: Oh, God. Like, I had this idea that we could start taking drones over parts of the world where, like, maybe there’s war, or maybe there’s some bad shit happening.
JM: Right.
JB: And then, we could put that footage up onto the website and have our stuff do it’s thing. And then, you know, we’d be able to feed all this data out to the people.
JM: Wow.
JB: And when I was at the White House last week, that’s the big thing the President was interested in. He really thought it would be a good fit for, not just for our website, but also for their army.
JM: That’s incredible. The idea that you would have had this idea…
JB: Right.
JM: And now, the United States military is looking at using it.
JB: Well yeah. I mean, it’s not like a big deal or anything.
JM: *laughter*
JB: *laughter* But, like, to me, it’s true. I work my ass off every single day and because of that, you know, I’m able to get these ideas and thoughts that so many people don’t think they have the time for.
JM: Well, that’s a whole other conversation. But it’s a conversation we will have right after we have a brief word from our sponsors.
